The PME leads and is a member of various projects supported by research agencies, such as FAPESP, CNPq and FINEP, in addition to projects financed by industry funds (ProInfra and CTPetro) and Thematic Projects. It moreover promotes and participates in cooperative Research Projects, including many with institutions in other countries, such as Germany, Argentina, the United States, England, Colombia, Cuba and Japan.
Nine Research Groups registered in CNPq are active at the PME, with 34 faculty participants, developing 36 lines of research, with active participation by undergraduate and graduate students. It has also developed research of technological nature, through agreements with private companies to develop processes and products.
The PME collaborates with class associations, particularly: ABCM, ABENDE, ABENG, ABIMAQ/SINDIMAQ, ABM, ABNT, ABRAMAM, AEA, ANPRAC, ASHRAE, NACE International, SAE-BRASIL, SMACNA Brazil-USA Forum.
